Prayers


If you are friends with me on Facebook then you have probably seen a few of my posts this past week.
My stepdad, Gary, was in a terrible motorcycle accident on Thursday.  Tomorrow will be 1 week.
He was only going about 35 mph when he hit loose gravel and flipped over his bike.
Luckily, he was riding with a buddy who was behind him and saw the whole thing and could call for help.  They were on country roads and about 2 hours from the hospital.  It took 2 hours to get him stable enough to be life flighted to Tulsa.

It's been quite the emotional ride...first, he wasn't going to make it.  Then he was going to be paralyzed and now he is awaiting spinal surgery and then 
hopefully regain function of his body.
Miracle after miracle.

We had a set back on Tuesday when they couldn't perform surgery due to a blood clot but we are hopeful that he will have the surgery tomorrow to stabilize his spine.  We know there will be lots of ups and downs with this type of trauma but it doesn't make it any easier.

Prayers for healing that Gary will regain all function of his body and be back to normal.
Prayers for my mother as she needs strength to be his strongest supporter.
Prayers for his grown children as they deal with seeing their dad in this situation.
Prayers for myself and siblings as we support my mom and care for Gary.
Prayers for the other families on the trauma floor.  You get to know the other patient's families and you wouldn't believe what some of these people are going through...so awful.

We love him so much and love his family.
This isn't easy but we are all supporting one another and I think he would love seeing us all together caring for him and my mom.

Gary would be so happy to see that our sweet Blaire turned 2 this past Sunday.
She is now such a big girl and prays with us as we pray for Poppy.

Be thankful for your family.  Tell them you love them and how much they mean to you.
Those things that "will never happen to us" just happened.
We move forward with hope because we serve an almighty God that is the greatest physician there has ever been...He gives us hope, strength and love.  I have never seen Jesus as many times in one week as I have during this time...I see him in my friends, my mom's neighbors, the nurses and our families.
He is showing His face to us and we hold tight to His promise.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us...
Ephesians 3:20

  2. Again, I am so incredibly sorry and thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He definitely sounds like a fighter and will come out of this! Love you.
